Allen Victor Catron, age 70, of LaBelle, MO, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 5, 2014, at his home North of LaBelle, MO. Allen passed away peacefully after a courageous two year battle with cancer that inspired others and brought glory to God.
He was born September 7, 1943, in Des Moines, IA the son of Henry Wesley and Vera Katherine Clark Catron.
Allen will be lovingly remembered by his wife Debby of 25 years. They were united in marriage on July 31, 1989.
Surviving are his wife Debby of LaBelle, MO, five children David Catron and wife Tracy of Rhoades, IA, Lisa Catron Grimm of Bayonne, NJ, Steven Hughes of St. Joseph, MO, Dennis Hughes and wife Amy of Osceola, IA, and Aleesha Catron Roach and husband Austin of Hannibal, MO, one sister Marie Whiteley and Neil Stice of Lewistown, MO, one brother Martin Catron of Lewistown, MO, ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Marilyn Norris and an infant brother Milford Catron.
Allen received his education in Lewistown where he graduated from High School. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1965. Allen was employed for several years as a water plant operator and supervisor in Brunswick, Canton, Edina and LaBelle, MO. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ewing, MO, a member of the LaBelle Masonic Lodge # 222 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the LaBelle Eastern Star # 316. Allen enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Reverend Tim Smith will officiate the services. Burial with full military honors will be in the Mt. Salem Cemetery north of LaBelle, MO under the direction of Lewistown American Legion Post # 578.
Casket bearers will be Sam Leslie, Kevin Kelly, Carl Brightwell, Gus Stratton, Lindy Hamlin and Bob Glover.
Honorary bearers will be Joe Cunningham, Marvin Swenka and the Lewistown Class of 1962.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 7, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ewing Baptist Church. Masonic Rites will be held Monday, at 8 p.m. in the Ewing Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Allen Catron may be made to the family. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO, 63447.
