Obituary

Aletha Earline Putney , age 97, of Edina, MO, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, in the LaBelle Manor in LaBelle, MO.

She was born September 4, 1926, in Edina, MO the daughter of Earl Sanford and Mary Wasson Woodard.

She was married to Richard Kent Putney in March 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1977.

Aletha attended schools in Edina and graduated from High School in Burlington, Iowa.   Aletha was a cloth doll marker and made and sold dolls all her life.   She resided in Burlington, Iowa several years until she and her husband moved to Omaha, Nebraska.  After the death of her husband she moved to Hatch, New Mexico.   In 2005 she moved back to Edina to take care of her cousin Carl Wasson.  Aletha enjoyed making cloth dolls and painting landscapes.  She was a lifelong Baptist and had attended the Knox City Baptist Church.

Surviving are three children.  Two daughters Susan Putney and husband Brian Schmidt of rural Edina, MO and Judith Putney Solberg of Edina, MO, one son David Kent Putney of Columbia, MO, two sisters Wanda Cherryholmes of Dallas, Texas and Treva Lange-Svec of Galesburg, IL, one granddaughter Sue Ann Solberg Mathews and one great grandchild Diana Mathews. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aletha will be cremated and no services will be held at this time.  Memorial services will be held at a later date. Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the LaBelle Manor Care Nursing Home in LaBelle, MO.  Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
