Alan Floyd Ives, age 61, of Edina, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at his home southwest of Edina.
He was born in Missouri April 26, 1953, the son of Albert Dameron and Floyd Francis Gilbert Ives.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Howes on February 21, 2014, in Edina, MO.
Surviving are his wife Shirley Ives of Edina, MO, step children, Mike Wriedt and Brandi, Jen Ward and Brett, Stephnie Baldwin and Chad, Travis Thacker, Christopher Thacker, Jessica Marberry and Kevin, Erin Thacker, Masson Kurk, Wayne Richardson and Mary, Jeff Richardson and Kathleen, one sister Kay Hall and Benny of Silex, MO, one nephew Scott Hall and Christy, one niece Crystal Hall and several step grandchildren.
Alan was raised in the Silex community where he received his education then went on to start Ives Utility Contracting, Inc. Upon retirement he relocated to Edina, MO in 2004, then became employed by the City of Edina becoming Utility Supervisor this past year.
Alan enjoyed spending time with family, his many good friends, raising cattle, riding his cutting horse and having team sorting events held at his barn. Alan was also an avid reader of military history.
Mr. Ives will be cremated and a visitation for the family and friends will be held 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Pastor Mark Appold will have a concluding prayer.
